Venosa: “U Scurzarèz, alias breakfast in the vineyard”
Harvest is over at Notaricchio, in the vineyard of Francesco Paolo Gammone, member of the cooperative winery Cantina di Venosa, yet the images of those beautiful, tiring days are still vivid.
All family and friends give a hand harvesting!
Working is fine but…you need energy to do it!
And so during the harvest even breakfast becomes an inspiring moment.
“U Scurzarèz”, in Basilicata dialect, is a piece of bread, emptied from the inner crumbs, and filled up with “peppers and tomatoes” cooked usually the day before. Of course it pairs perfectly with a good glass of Aglianico del Vulture. Scents and flavors that blend with the story of this places and this people.
Here is Francesco Paolo Gammone, third from left, smiling on this perfect harvest day; with his work in the vineyard he managed to obtain the perfect result: great quality grapes that will be vinificated at Cantina di Venosa to obtain the noble Aglianico del Vulture doc wine. In the distance the beautiful Vulture Mountain that gives the name to the appellation of Aglianico.
