The project – Vigna Roda

Vigna Roda Winery is located close to the beautiful town of Padua, namely in Vò, at the point where the town outskirts meet the piedmont of the “Colli Euganei” Park area. This territory, from ancient history, with its predominantly volcanic conformation, provides for ideal climatic conditions for the cultivation of vines. In this area the Strazzacappa Family has been living and working for generations and here they have always produced wine. The hard and consistent work done over the time allowed Vigna Roda to build a reputation for producers of high quality wines. The Winery is currently managed by Gianni Strazzacappa and his wife Elena, who have kept high the reputation of their family wines. They have worked hard in the vineyards where, on all new installations, they have provided for higher vines density per hectar to favor the natural radical competition. As a consequence vines produce fewer clusters of very high quality. The range of Wines from Vigna Roda falls, for the most part, into the DOC Colli Euganei and sees a large presence of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and other, so called, International Varietals that feel traditionally “at home” here in Veneto Region. Vigna Roda also produces Moscato Bianco, an Extra Dry sparkling wine from Serprino grape and “Fior d’Arancio DOCG”, a sweet wine from Moscato Giallo produced both as Spumante (sparkling) and Passito. All wines are presented with an image of youthful elegance, sophisticated and yet modern. The winery production is a perfect synthesis between tradition and modernity.

To describe the appeal of this range of wines to the overseas markets one should first of all refer to the truthfulness of the fruit that is a striking specification of each of the Vigna Roda wines. Wines from Veneto Region are often already present in most portfolios of many importers and distributors however Vigna Roda wines definitely add something different: a very specific territorial expression, a refined, original touch. Alongside the most well-known varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Vigna Roda produces indigenous varietals such as Serprino , a grape similar to Prosecco/Glera that on these volcanic hills acquires remarkable personality. Here Moscato Bianco and Giallo show a very specifc personality. Moscato Giallo, in this area, becomes DOCG ” Fior D’Arancio ” that Vigna Roda vinificates both as Spumante and Passito. The overseas partner of Vigna Roda can rely on the professionalism of the people , on the truthfulness and purity of the style of all wines from this winery as well as enjoy the sophisticated character of some of the blends. He will be able to introduce his clientele to very unique varietals. The ideal business partner for Vigna Roda appreciates the good balance between quality of the wines , their image and price.
