Risotto: “Pumpkin, Stracchino Cheese and…Amaretti”

Playing with food pairing We are in the kitchen, with Anna Maccaferri Montecchi, at Villa del Cigliano. She is going to tell us all about this yummy recipe “Pumpkin Risotto with Stracchino Cheese and Amaretti.” We enjoyed the unusual combinations of flavors that we paired with a bottle of Chianti Classico Cigliano Ingredients for 4 people: 1.5 liters of broth (either chicken or vegetable) 400 grams of pumpkin cut into small cubes 1 medium onion (or leek) 1 crumbled sausage ½ glass of dry white wine 320 grams of rice (best would be Carnaroli type) Extra Virgin Olive Oil (to

Villa del Cigliano: “Artigiani in Villa 2014”

Crafts, Wine and Paintings: a summer in Chianti Classico As a well-established tradition, this year too, Niccolò Montecchi opened the doors of his magnificent Villa del Cigliano to host “Artigiani in Villa 2014” (June 6th and 8th, 2014). This event aims to enhance, and exhibit, the excellence of both agricultural productions, such as the wine and oil the Montecchi family produces, and all different arts and crafts. It’s a two days of great pride for the area and people who works in it. Amongst other initiatives, this year, Villa Del Cigliano hosted the exhibition “Poesia Silenziosa” (Silent Poetry) in which

Villa del Cigliano: “Tuscan Croutons paired with Cigliano Vin Santo”

The traditional Tuscan recipes in the cradle of Chianti I personally “experimented” this delicious dish from the Tuscan Culinary Tradition when I first visited Anna Maccaferri Montecchi at Villa del Cigliano, a few years ago. She welcomed me in her, I would say, “historical” kitchen and I very much “enjoyed” following her suggestion to pair this traditional Tuscan paté with Cigliano Vin Santo. Both Anna and her son Niccolò explained how their Vin Santo is made in the old, traditional style which means not indulging too much in sweetness and keeping the acidity quite high. The result is outstanding and

The delights of the vine and the table for a pleasant day of work in Tuscany We are at Villa del Cigliano in San Casciano Val di Pesa, Anna Maccaferri, who owns the Villa and lives here, welcomes us in her beautiful kitchen where we are going to enjoy tasting Villa del Cigliano wines over a beautiful lunch she had prepared for us. The table has been laid today in this space that once was the service kitchen of the villa. The chimney,in perfect conditions, still retains the old tools for the fire. The room was restored in 1990 keeping

Villa del Cigliano: “In the Garden, when it’s winter…”

We are visiting Villa del Cigliano in San Casciano Val di Pesa on a typical winter day and we are out, strolling around in the beauiful garden of the Villa: cold light, muted colors, magic reflections in the water, an odd balcony opening on to nothing or perhaps simply and romantically opening on the sky. Bizzare architecs inventions! The large pool located at the center of the garden has been designed to reflect on one side the beautiful facade of the Villa and… …looking from the opposite side, the amazing Neptune Fountain Let’s find out what’s behind this door (during

Villa del Cigliano Gambero Rosso 2014

Villa del Cigliano: “Chianti Classico Villa del Cigliano 2011 is a 2 Bicchieri RED for Gambero Rosso”

Good news for our wines from the “Vini d’Italia 2014” Guide published by “Gambero Rosso”. They have had very nice words for all our wines and the 2014 Guide especially outlined how our Chianti Classico 2011 “is probably one of the best tasting we had this year”, we are very happy to have obtained a “2 bicchieri RED” on it (“red” means that this wine run for the “3 bicchieri” selection this year!) a great encouragement to go always for a higher score! Here is what they wrote about us. Sorry…it’s in Italian! Feeling very happy and proud we want
